Foreign remittances are the backbone of countries’ economies. Human capital moves across the globe to earn money, feed their families and contribute to their national treasuries. This article gives brief yet interesting facts and numbers around two major activities: migration and flow of remittances. The source of the entire information is Migration and Remittances Factbook 2016, published by World Bank.
Total Migrants in the World
A 3.4% of the world’s population – 247 million people – lives outside their birth countries. Although, dramatic increase and decrease has been witnessed at various times, the percentage always remains above three (03).
